The Naples-Bari High Capacity is Europe's first sustainable railway
The High-Speed / High-Capacity Naples-Bari is Europe's first sustainable railway. This was certified by the Envision Protocol, the infrastructure rating system that evaluates the effectiveness of the investment, respect for the ecosystem, climate and environmental risk, durability, improvement of the quality of life and the process of consultation with the territories. On November 26, 2019, the conference "Ferrovia Napoli-Bari. Campania: from the first railway in Italy to the first sustainable railway in Europe", deepened the contents and the application of the Envision Protocol and the socio-economic impact of the infrastructure. The event took place in Benevento and was organized by the University of Sannio and promoted by the CUR-Coordination of the Universities of Campania, in collaboration with the Campania Region, ICMQ and RFI-Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. The work involved the entire day with technical reports and political comparisons, concluded by the intervention of the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca. "The Na-BA High Capacity - declared the rector Gerardo Canfora - is a real driving force for development of the territory, reopening new prospects of contrast and containment of depopulation phenomena that currently represent the most serious constraint to the development of the Sannio. The study carried out by the University of Sannio, on the socio-economic impact of the work, has shown that when fully operational there will be positive effects both on growth and on new residential phenomena linked to the better accessibility of the areas concerned ”.
