The Engineering Department of the University of Sannio has organized a series of lectures on soil-structure interaction in the dynamic field with a world-renowned luminary in the geotechnical sector, prof. George Gazetas of the National Technical University of Athens

The lectures on 7 - 10 and 14 May 2021 were followed by about 200 participants including students, doctoral students, researchers and professors from numerous Italian and foreign universities.

The event organized by Professor Stefania Sica was introduced by the Director of the Engineering Department Nicola Fontana.

The professor. Gazetas is Emeritus Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, following an academic career in the United States, where he taught at SUNY-Buffalo, Rensselaer (RPI), and Case Western Reserve University. His main research topics concern the dynamic response of shallow and deep foundations; the seismic response of earth dams; local seismic amplification and soil-structure interaction. He has been a geotechnical consultant in the design of important civil engineering works around the world.
