Patent Committee

At the University of Sannio, a dedicated Patent Committee has been established, composed of experts selected from among the University's employees with proven qualifications and experience in the fields of business innovation and industrial and intellectual property.
The Patent Committee is composed of four members, appointed by the Board of Directors upon the proposal of the Rector. These members must have proven qualifications and experience in the field of business innovation and industrial and intellectual property, and they serve for a term of six years. The Committee is responsible for preparatory work, providing proposals, evaluations, and decisions on matters related to patents and other industrial property rights.
In particular, the Committee's opinion must be obtained in the following cases:
(a) for filing patents in the name and on behalf of the University and/or for extending existing patents;
(b) for communications regarding results achieved during research activities and for offers of assignment made by employed researchers;
(c) for maintaining patents and registrations in the years following the initial filing;
(d) for contractual acts referred to in Article 7 of the Patent Regulations and for assessing the appropriateness of compensation;
(e) for any sanctions in the event of breaches of obligations under the Patent Regulations.
The Committee also performs functions of promotion, enhancement, supervision, and monitoring of all activities related to patent matters and adopts criteria, guidelines, and procedures concerning inventions and other industrial property rights.
The current Committee is composed of the following experts in technical-scientific, economic-management, and legal disciplines:
- Prof. Riccardo Resciniti, serving as Chair;
- Prof. Andrea Cusano;
- Prof. Roberta Mongillo;
- Prof. Pasquale Vito.
The Committee is supported by the Head of the Organizational Unit "Research and Technology Transfer Office".
