Employment contract for Unisannio graduate after ATA internship
Dea Dello Iacovo, graduated in law from the University of Sannio with a thesis on European Union law, after a three-month internship in Brussels at the Atlantic Treaty Association received a job offer to stay other three months.
The Atlantic Committee ensures the presence of Italy within the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), the international body linking NATO with the public opinions of the member countries of the Atlantic Alliance. The main aim of the agreement is in fact to develop forms of collaboration for the conduct of research programs and higher education, on topics of common interest, such as security problems, counter-terrorism, cyber security, economic and legal aspects, climate change, spatial planning. Dea, during her internship, which she did together with another Unisannio student, Raffaella Laterza, supported the ATA staff in organizing the Council Meeting, the annual meeting of Network representatives, in the implementation of strategic briefings on various topics and in the drafting of reports and analyzes related to security and defense issues. Furthermore, as an interim member of the Secretariat's staff, Dea also had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of NATO and European institutions. On 30 September, the day on which the internship should have been completed, Dr. Dello Iacovo, on the other hand, received an offer from the President Fabrizio W. Luciolli to stay another three months, signing an employment contract. Dea will manage the secretariat and assist the president during the organization of the next General Assembly to be held in Genoa from 7 to 9 November; period which also coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Atlantic Alliance. "Carrying out an internship at the ATA - said Dea - has been a unique experience for me, which has allowed me not only to deepen and put into practice the knowledge and studies carried out during my university course, but also to expand my cultural and social horizons. Receiving this job offer means a lot to me, and I'm sure it will help me grow professionally and work harder. I really want to thank Professor Silvia Ullo and Professor Roberto Virzo, as well as my rapporteur, for their trust in me and for their constant work in supporting students ". The opportunity arose following the agreement between the Samnite university and the Italian Atlantic Committee, promoted by Prof. Silvia Ullo, member of the Italian Atlantic Committee, and signed in March 2017 by the rector Filippo De Rossi and the president of ATA Fabrizio W. Luciolli. The costs of the internship were supported by an Erasmus + Traineeship scholarship. The Unisannio Silvia Ullo and Roberto Virzo professors are part of the joint table, created following the signing of the Unisannio-Comito Atlantico Italiano agreement, which deals with analyzing all the opportunities and activities necessary to make this agreement effective and useful above all for the students.
