SHerIL

The University of Sannio has established SHerIL – Samnium Heritage Innovation Lab, an interdepartmental center dedicated to research, advanced training, and technology transfer in the field of cultural heritage protection and enhancement.

Based in the historic heart of the Triggio district in Benevento, SHerIL will be operational starting from October 2025 and will serve as an innovation hub for the inland areas of the Campania region. The center promotes an integrated approach between the humanities and sciences, aiming to develop digital, immersive, and sustainable solutions for the understanding and enjoyment of cultural assets.

The facility will host highly specialized laboratories, interactive exhibition spaces, an immersive room for soundscapes and digital cultural heritage, as well as areas for the incubation of cultural and creative enterprises. With strong institutional and entrepreneurial partnerships, SHerIL aims to train new professionals and promote culture as a strategic driver for the economic, social, and territorial development of Southern Italy.
