Gaetano Continillo is Professor of Chemical Process Engineering at the Department of Engineering, Università del Sannio, Benevento, Italy, and Associate Researcher at Istituto Motori CNR, Naples, Italy. From 1998 to 2003 he has served as Associate Professor on the same institution. From 1985 to 1998 he has been affiliated with CNR at the Istituto di Ricerche sulla Combustione in Naples, Italy. From 2007 to 2011 he has been three times Visiting Professor at Université d’Orléans, France. From 1986 to 1988 he has spent 19 months at the University of California Irvine, USA, working on the numerical modelling of the combustion of droplets and sprays. In 1987 he received the Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering from Università Federico II, Naples, Italy. His research interests fall in the field of analysis, simulation and dynamics of reactive systems. He is author or co-author of more than one hundred fifty between journal and conference papers, mostly international. He has been President of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems; Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Chartered Physicist; Head, Joint Graduate Program in Energy Engineering, Universita del Sannio, Benevento, Italy and Università Federico II, Napoli, Italy. He is currently Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal “Combustion Theory and Modelling”.
