ACADEMIC AGE
She starts the Ph.D program on February 2011 and she was awarded a Ph.D. grant in " Engineering of Mechanical Systems" on May 2014 at the University of Naples Federico II, Post Graduation School of Industrial Engineering, by discussing a Thesis entitled " Energy performance of buildings: methodologies, equipment and technologies for reducing the primary energy requests of the system building / HVAC plants".
Starting from November 2021, Rosa Francesca De Masi is an associate professor, Scientific Sector ING-IND/11 (Environmental Applied Thermodynamics and Building Physics), at Department of Engineering of University of Sannio where she actually works.
Previous position
Between May 2014 and May 2015, she has been Research Fellow at the University of Naples Federico II, for the Italian Scientific Sector ING-IND/11 (Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer for Buildings), with a scientific assignment defined " Distributed polygeneration to service small and medium sized residential districts."
Between June 2015 and June 2016 she has been Research Fellow at the University of Sannio, for the Italian Scientific Sector ING-IND/11 (Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer for Buildings), with a scientific assignment defined " Analysis of the energy performance of existing buildings and design of energy refurbishment for the reduction of primary energy demand of the building/HVAC system by means of innovative solutions."
Between July 2016 and September 2018 she has been Research Fellow at the University of Sannio, for the Italian Scientific Sector ING-IND/11 (Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer for Buildings), with a scientific assignment defined " Technologies for Zero or Nearly Zero Energy Buildings: analysis of design solution for the system “Building-HVAC plants” in Mediterranean countries."
In July 2018 she awarded a research position (assistant professor) for the Italian Scientific Sector ING-IND/11 (Environmental Applied Thermodynamics and Building Physics) at Department of Engineering of University of Sannio and from November 2018 until November 2021, she worked as researcher at the same University.
TEACHING AND DIDACTIC ACTIVITIES
R. F. De Masi teaches for Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in Energy Engineering. In particular, she is professor of Applied Thermodynamics, Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Environmental Control Technology and she supervised numerous dissertations (both Bachelor and Master Degree), typical 15 for year, on topics related to energy saving in buildings and exploitation of renewable energy sources.
She is PhD supervision of three students on the topic recycled and innovative materials in building sector toward the Green New Deal by means of experimental and numerical analysis. She was also the supervisor of two students that discussed thesis with title “From energy refurbishment of existing buildings to Nearly Zero-Energy ones: Set-up, experimental measures, performance gap and numerical modelling” and “Nearly/Net Zero Energy Building: innovative multifunctional solutions for new projects and for the energy retrofit of the existing building stock”.
Visiting academic positions
Rosa Francesca De Masi has carried out a FELLOWSHIP from November 2017 to February 2018 at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens - Department of Physics (Zografou Campus GR-157 80 Zografou, Athens, Greece), for research activities in the frame of the project ProGETone “Proactive synergy of inteGrated Efficient Technologies on BUILDINGS” (70/3/14224) financed by Horizon 2020, H2020- EE-10-2016-IA- Innovation action.
Other work experience
LABORATORIES
She is the responsible of the of a large-scale test-room (36 m2), named MATRIX, Multi Activity Test-Room for InnovatingX, available at Dept. of Engineering of University of Sannio, for testing building envelope and plants.
She is responsible of a nearly zero energy building in Benevento designed to be a living-lab where indoor comfort and energy measures are possible.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS
In matter of building energy saving she collaborates with the Group of Building Environmental Research of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, coordinated by prof. Margarita- Niki Assimakopoulos, and also with research group coordinated by prof Mattheos Santamouris of the School of Built Environment at University of New South Wales (Australia). She also collaborates with the research group of Construction TC Technology Campuses Ghent and Aalst coordinated by prof. Hilde Breesch, Faculty of Engineering Technology (Belgic).
