General information on the role of the University of Sannio in society
The University of Sannio strongly believes in interaction with society, the territory and businesses and in all the so-called "third mission" activities. In particular, since its foundation in 1998, it was born with the idea of using and animating historic public spaces and infrastructures in the city. This is in order to strengthen the link with the territory and develop training and research activities useful for the progress of the local community, counteracting the phenomenon of the abandonment of small towns and returning to the city of Benevento, and in general to Sannio, its role as attractor for fundamental functions of society. Despite the criticalities of the regional logistic system, the choice of the University was to continue to operate within the city, while causing greater rigidity in the maintenance interventions and in the choices of allocation of spaces for carrying out the various activities of University.
Consistent with its third mission strategic vision, the University of Sannio has had proof of the consistency and value of the services provided with respect to the needs expressed by the territory; high-level teaching on central issues for the formation of modern professional profiles, in line with the evolution of the labor market and focused on key territorial experiences; research capable of supporting economic, entrepreneurial and social development paths; constant service and accompaniment to local and territorial authorities in innovation and institutional development paths.
In this direction, the University of Sannio intended to act as a "generous and helpful partner" towards numerous players in the area, ensuring support in the definition and implementation of public policies in the cultural, scientific and professional fields. At the same time, through its main institutional functions of teaching and research and technology transfer, the University intends to support with commitment the growth processes of professional groups, communities and individuals.
